about

ex-ordium (eg zor'de em) n. to begin a web, begin ,ex-. from + ordiri, to lay warp, begin: the opening part of an oration, treatise, etc. (Webster's)

My purpose in the creation of this disc is to showcase the tuba as leader of a quartet in the idiom of modern jazz. Once the listener's ear has adjusted to the sound of the tuba, it is my hope that they will focus on the musical aspects of the performance. So...this is a beginning...The first volley in a quest to extend and expand the role of the tuba in modern music into the 21st century.

I would like to dedicate this album to all my friends on the visual arts and letters scene in Detroit and everywhere.
